Goin' to Kelowna (Week 38 & 39)

June, 2010 - We stop at a rest stop on the way to Kelowna. Mommy is going to a cabin for a little vacation with her bookclub, and daddy is taking Lily to see Nana and Grampa Couper.

Lily decides she likes mommy's shirt. A lot, apparently!

There's the tongue again! Always with the tongue when the camera comes out.

Lily sees a puppy and her attention goes there. She is fascinated by puppies. And other babies!

"Thank you for getting all these new books for me from the library, Nana!"

"I like it when we read together!"

Lily stares the camera down. Clearly she hasn't internalized all "100 ways to make a baby smile" listed in the book beside her.

Lily turns to daddy to ask if she can have some cake.

"Daddy said yes, Nana! Yum!"

Lily. The Cheerio queen. She leaves them everywhere she goes. The ones that don't make it into her mouth, that is.

"Can I see the real estate section, Nana? I want to see how housing prices in Kelowna compare to those in Vancouver."

"Hi Grampa. Do you loves me??"

"Cause I loves you and Nana very much. See? I'll hold your finger."

Lily gets ready to go with daddy to visit mommy at the cabin she is at with her friends. She thinks maybe it's too warm for socks today.

"Wow mommy! You have a nice view from the deck of this cabin you are staying at!"

Mommy seriously injures her back trying to move a couch at the cabin while Lily and daddy are visiting. She is forced to cut her vacation short and head back to Kelowna to convalesce on the floor of Nana and Grampa's house. Lily likes to visit mommy on her living room bed.

Or maybe she is just trying to climb over mommy so she can see what is on the other side :)

"Look at me! I am learning how to stand!"

Lily reads a magazine while mommy rests.

"Wheee!!! I can make splashes with my feet!!"

Lily explores the kitchen.

She makes a break for it out the back door....but Nana and Grampa catch her before she gets too far.

"Who me? I was just checking out the compost bin. Honest. I wasn't making a run for it."

"Hmmmm...what can I do with this???"

"Try to eat it!!"

Lily helps daddy open his birthday present.

She is a good little helper, indeed.

"HA!!!"

It's almost bedtime....Lily brushes her teach while Grampa reads.

But first...a little nightcap before she retires. Just kidding...she only licked the edge of the glass :)

"I love barbecues on the patio!"

Lily is still mastering the use of her sippy cup. She usually gets more water on herself than she does in her mouth. But she has fun trying!!

"Hi mommy! Look...I am getting better at it!"

Mommy claps for Lily. Just because :)

"Hi daddy. Can I touch the lens of your camera? Please? I promise my hands aren't all sticky with rice crackers and chicken."

"Ha ha!!! I will get your camera yet!"

"Maybe you hadn't noticed, but I am very, VERY persistent!"

Nana and Grampa bounce Lily in a blanket.

It's hard to tell, but I think she likes it!

"What is this thing they call a mouse??"

Mommy shows Lily one of the library books Nana brought home.

"Daddy, why is mommy wearing a donkey on her face??"

Lily supervises the washing machine. Watching it makes the clothes cleaner. That's a scientific fact.

"Do you like my roller? I'm gonna look even prettier when I'm finished my bath. Thank you Nana!"

Lily finds some *musical instruments* in the kitchen.

Lily checks out the swinging wicker chair in Auntie Jill's room. She likes it.

A Curious Little Lily (Week 36 & 37)

Lily is on the move!! Her crawling gets faster every day. One of her favourite places to go is into the bedroom so she can look at the other little baby in the mirror on the closet door.

Auntie Jill, Uncle Matt and Auntie Cindy babysit Lily while mommy and daddy go out for dinner.

Lily shows Auntie Cindy her Eyore...a bedtime toy that managed to make its way into the living room. And guess what? It dingles too :)

Lily practices her yoga moves. She is getting very good at doing the "plank." It is an excellent exercise for core strengthening, but she doesn't know that. She is trying to stand up, but hasn't quite figured out what do do after she gets into this position. So she usually just drops to her knees again. Or she cries until mommy or daddy gets her out of this pickle.

Lily and mommy playing on the rug.

Mommy and daddy tried to pack Lily up and ship her to Winnipeg for a visit, but Canada Post wouldn't take her. Neither would UPS or DHL. Guess she's stuck in Vancouver for awhile longer!!

The box is lots of fun. Until she has had enough and can't figure out how to get out of it. Mommy and daddy had to airlift her to safety.

But not before taking a few more pictures!!
