Family Pictures

Family picture on the back patio before new baby arrives.

Messages to send to Grandma Berta to help make her smile while she recovers from her surgery...

One to wish her a speedy recovery...

And one to let her know how much we love her.

Summer Sunday

On our way to Costco one summer Sunday in August, Lily decides to take Daddy on a little detour through a pond...

...and ends up getting wetter than Mommy had anticipated she would...

...but also ends up having a blast!

Not having gotten enough water in the morning, we head down to the beach near the Burrard bridge to play in the water.

Lily spends a good half-an-hour filling up the bucket and dumping it on the shore. We're not sure what her goal is, so we're interested to see how she'll know when she's done...

...apparently this is a game of endless fun...

...so ultimately we decide to go home when the little bug is so wet she's shivering. It's been a good summer day!!

Lily & Mommy Pool-time

On a very hot, muggy Sunday, mommy can't take the heat any more and, in desperation, puts on the only bathing suit that might sort-of fit and takes Lily to the pool. Daddy gets a good chuckle out of this, and can't resist capturing the event on film.

One angle of the belly wasn't enough, so he gets a shot from the other side.

Ooooh...everybody is excited to be in the water. Mommy feels 60 lbs lighter, and Lily is just plain excited.

We start off blowing a few bubbles...

...which Lily finds so hilarious...

...that we basically blow bubbles for the next 30 minutes....

...until it's time to go. There was a bit of paddling and jumping off the side in-between. Yaay for the swimming pool in our condo building!!

Couch "Naptime"

Lily decides it's time for night-night on the couch, so she pounces on Eeyore...

...and pretends to sleep.

Just so her face doesn't betray her (she's sleeping, after all) she covers up...

...then decides that if she flips over she will be more convincing.

"Waking up" after her 30 sec nap, she is rejuvenated!

"Oh my goodness, why didn't I think of this before??"

"This is much more fun than sleeping."

"Hi Eeyore! Time to wake up and play with me!"

Taking Up the Whole Crib...

Lily has so many *friends* in her crib these days, there is barely any room for her. And yet, she still manages to stretch out completely.

It's unusual for her to have all her limbs inside the rails, so we had to take a picture!

Playing with Pigeons August, 2011

Sitting in the urban concrete park at Cambie and Hamilton, Lily spies some birdies.

She climbs down to go investigate...

She doesn't quite understand why they keep running away, but this doesn't daunt her.

She is persistent!!

At first she tries calling to them, but still they keep running away.

Then she gets some Cheerios from Mommy and throws them to the birdies....that works alot better. They like that!!

When the Cheerios are all gone, she returns to chasing them, calling "Birdies!!"

Alas, the birdies move on to someone else who has food.

But Lily is happy and satisfied that she made some new friends.

Maplewood Farm August, 2011

Going to visit Maplewood Farm on the North Shore...

Nana points out the pigs to Lily, but she is confused because they are black and hairy and kind of ugly, and not pink and hairless and cute like they are in her books!!

Lily surveys the landscape and eventually talks to the moo moo cows. She is disappointed that they do not talk back :(

Next, she goes over to the bird cages to see if they will talk to her....

One of them does which actually quite upsets her. Poor Lily!!

She is a bit hesitant with the goats at first...

...but eventually she pats one...

...then gets braver and gently touches its ear...

...and finally tweaks it a bit.

Then she makes it her mission to go and touch every single goat in the pen!

She lets mommy help so she can accomplish the mission faster.

Mommy is only slightly horrified when one hungry goat sticks its nose in her backpack looking for the Cheerios it can smell.

Bunnies!!

Lily quickly makes friends in the rabbit hutch.

The farm is in a beautiful setting. We'll have to come back for another visit sometime soon.
