More Olympic Celebrations (Week 23)

View from the living room window. The crowd across the street watches live coverage of the events on the big screen at "Live City Vancouver" in Yaletown. I made the mistake of going to the gym one evening wearing a navy blue jacket...which apparently is not a good idea when you are amongst red and white wearing enthusiastic (and perhaps a bit drunk) Canadians. I wore my red jacket for the rest of the Games.
The crowd outside our building milling about after one of the nightly concerts like Damian Marley and Blue Rodeo. They were usually a happy crowd, often breaking out into spontaneous renditions of "Oh Canada." The singing was welcome; the screaming, the air horns and those infernal cowbells were less welcome.

We were happy to be able to watch the nightly fireworks from the couch in the living room. It sounded like gunshots going off in our home, but, amazingly, Lily slept through it all. Even the cowbells :)

Go Canada! We had a party at our house for the men's gold medal hockey game. Lily slept through the first two periods, but woke up just in time to see the game go into overtime.

Lily dressed in her patriotic colours for the occasion, and even waved her flag. Until she decided she wanted to eat it. Then it turned into a pile of wet papery mush. I'm not sure, but I think it's illegal to eat a flag.

"Go Canada!!"

We took to the streets with other Vancouverites to celebrate the Canadian men's hockey team winning gold. Taking the stroller was a good decision...it gave us more space than we otherwise would have had.

A little bit of creativity turns mops and broomsticks into flag poles. Lily is mesmerized by the crowd. She was very popular...lots of people stopped to high-five her and take pictures.
