Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Eve, 2010 - Lily hitches a ride on Auntie Jill.

Which was awesome for everybody...until Lily decided she wasn't finished yet. It took a team of us to manually extract her.

Christmas morning, 2010 - Grampa Jim gets in some morning exercise. Lily helps.

Apparently we should have gotten a bigger tree :) The other option, of course, is fewer presents. Nah...we'll go for the bigger tree next year.

Dressed? Check! Eeyore? Check! Lily's ready for the gift opening to begin.

First she crawls into the middle of the pile.....

...surveys the landscape for awhile....

...goofs around with Santa for a bit (we don't think she was fooled by the hat, daddy)...

...and then gets a lesson from Auntie Jill on how to rip wrapping paper off of presents.

She becomes quite adept at this, and makes her way around the room helping other people open their presents too.
She decides to go exploring again, and finds a few with her name on them, and goes in for a closer look...

...she decides to open the biggest one first. That'll fly this year, Lily, but next year you have do open them in the order in which *Santa* gives them to you!

You work up quite a thirst opening gifts, so Lily chills out for a bit with some milk. And Eeyore. And Nana. And a bib. Oh, and a hair bow. We'll see how long it lasts on her head.

Lily takes some tea from Nana. Who doesn't love tea and cupcakes from a little pink and purple tea set?

Much of the big waffle brunch ends up in Lily's hair, so a change of clothes is in order. Lily stops halfway through her costume change to check her voicemail on her Elmo cell phone.

Boxing Day, 2010 - Auntie Jill and her little helper :)

Nana and Grampa Jim take Lily swimming in the pool in our building.

Lily demonstrates the double arm pump. She's been watching Jersey Shore.

"Whoa! It's very wavy in here!"

Family dinner!!!! Lily's favourite is the turkey and yam. She even eats a few cranberries from the sauce. So far she hasn't met much food she doesn't like.

Lily tries out her new bike from Nana and Grampa. It may be awhile before she's old enough, big enough and coordinated enough to ride it, but we don't think that's going to stop Lily from trying :)
See??
We are so looking forward to seeing what adventures Lily takes us on in 2011.
Happy New Year, Everyone!!

Lily Being Lily

Mommy tried out a new hairdo on Lily to keep her bangs out of her face. Lily was not impressed with the fussing it took to get the elastic in, nor was she overly impressed with the final result. We won't be trying that look again for awhile.

Playing at the park on Lily's favourite piece of equipment.

Lily's second favourite piece of playground equipment is the slide. She likes to hurl herself down it. Regardless of whether or not the person at the bottom is ready to catch her :)

The hair elastic was a bust, so we tried a little barette. We call this one Lily's "urban chic" look.

The girl is very flexible.

Playing with chalk at daycare. We're happy she's stopped trying to eat it every time she picks it up, and has now started actually drawing on the chalkboard. Progress!!

Lily decided that daddy's Christmas village box makes a most excellent seat.

Running around with no pants. Mommy was trying to put her pj's on, but gave up and grabbed the camera instead. When Lily ran over to grab the camera, mommy grabbed Lily and threw the pajama bottoms on her quickly. Sneaky!!

Lily likes to help wipe the sink with the hand towels. It would be much more helpful, of course, if the water wasn't running at the same time. Lily disagrees.

Getting ready to create a masterpiece at daycare. A blank canvas can be overwhelming sometimes. We understand, Lily....take your time.

Lily hasn't helped daddy at work in awhile, so she decides to pay him a visit in his office.

Lily was extremely helpful at redistributing the wrapping paper. Thank you, Lily!!

Bakefest 2010!

Mommy and Lily went to see Auntie Jody at her house on Vancouver Island in late November for our 4th annual Bakefest with her and Auntie Lori. Lily was a very good helper. One of the first things she did was test the shaker that had the gold sprinkles in it to see if it would dispense the sprinkles effectively. It worked just fine.

She then felt it was important to taste the sprinkles to ensure they were of a high quality.

Simply using her fingers for this task was not allowing her to put a large enough quantity of sprinkles in her mouth, so she tried another approach...

After the sprinkle-tasting Lily was full of lots of energy, so she decided to re-organize Auntie Jody's Tupperware drawer.

She likes to organize. She is a true Virgo. She also takes after her mommy.

Lily was a bit tired after a hard day of work, so she decided to have a rest on Emmy's little blue seat.

It's a little too small for her, so her butt got stuck in it at one point. That's alllll part of the fun :)

Later in the evening after her bath, she volunteered to help Auntie Jody organize her finances.

She was tuckered out from watching the cookies bake, so she stopped for a little refreshment break in front of the oven.

Lily was a little bit sad when we packed up to go home....she didn't want to leave her new little friend, Emmy.

She was, however, pretty happy to play on the little yellow car in the playroom on the ferry we took home. Can't wait 'til next year!

Nana's Visit while Mommy & Daddy are in Mexico

"Hi Nana! Thank you for looking after me while mommy and daddy were away..."

"I really liked reading books with you..."

"What else should we do??"

Getting Ready for Halloween!

Auntie Jill brought two possible Halloween costumes to choose from. Costume #1, the pink unicorn, is pretty cute. But it doesn't cover Lily's little belly.

She does, however, think the hood is nice. It helps her look coy.

"Surprise! It's me!!"

Mommy and Auntie Jill try costume #2 on Lily.

First the legs and arms go in...

...then the wings need to be adjusted...

...and finally....the hat.

Ta da!!! It's a Lily ladybug!

A ladybug with a flower. The best kind.

Lily checks the pricetag to see if it is acceptable. She has a thing for pricetags.

Mommy and Auntie Jill are pretty happy with the final result, but Lily is a bit hesitant.

She eventually comes around and thinks the costume is pretty cool.
