Hot Dog Party in the Park

August 25, 2012 - Hot Dog Picnic in the Park!  Dylan BBQ's hot dogs and carries them over to the park where we meet up with our neighbours from the building.  Abby chats with Tannis, Lily & Amelia before supper.

Rod is in charge of the adult drinks.  This is his magic mojito concoction.

Florian and Leyla enjoy a hot dog.

After cheese, chocolate and candy, hot dogs are Lily's favourite. When Lily is really upset after having a time-out sometimes she says she loves hot dogs more than  us.

Daddy and Amelia.

Meelie is content to sit for awhile and observe...

...but eventually she gets restless and wants to go on one of her exploring expeditions.

Mommy gives Amelia a lift towards the sky.  Her giggle is priceless.

"Higher, Mommy, higher!"

"This is my new favourite game."

Amelia observes everything and everyone very closely...including Mommy & Daddy.  We're looking forward to hearing her analyses once she can talk.

"Oh my goodness the football is coming towards me, what do I do?????"

"Aaack!  Here it comes again...make it stop!!"

"Whoa that's a high one!"

She is very happy to have it back in her hands and not flying through the air towards her head.

Rod gives Ever a lift.

"This bar tastes like.....painted metal."

Lily gives Kaiono (her friend from school) a push on the swing...

...and he returns the favour!  A perfect ending to a lovely afternoon/evening.

Amelia in August

Amelia and her blueberries.  Do they have anti-oxidants?  Yes.  Are they super healthy?  Yes.  Are we glad she likes a  healthy food?  Yes.  Are they the worst possible food for a baby to eat from the perspective that they stain everything they touch including floors, carpets, furniture, clothing, hair and skin (Amelia's and everyone else's)?  YES.

There she goes again in the corner of the couch.  Standing, standing, up, up, up.....

..and she's down.

But not out!  She tries again...

...but is content with the effort and decides to move on to something else.

Amelia takes a dive head first off the end of the bed one morning.  We wish she had just a teensy bit more fear. 

"Hi Daddy!  Just sittin' here on the bed waiting for Mommy to wake up."

 

Oh no!!!  Puke accident.  Amelia, Mommy, and entire floor are soaked.  Daddy is laughing behind the camera, thankful it didn't happen to him.  Mommy is thankful it didn't happen over the rug or in the crib.  Nothing a mop and a washing machine can't fix. 

 

In a brief unsupervised moment Amelia finds the box of kleenex.  She's got the box emptied by the time Lily alerts us to the pending disaster (i.e. Amelia not only pulling them all out but then shredding and/or eating all the tissues).

Even so, Daddy feels compelled to record some of the "fun" before taking the box away.  Here are some of our favourite shots:

After a long, hard day of eating, drinking, crawling, standing and playing, our little bean passes out into a content sleep with her furry friends.  Love this picture.



Playtime at the Park

Amelia prefers to climb up the slide rather than slide down it. Which of course ends up happening anyways 'cause she only gets part way up and then slides down on her stomach facing backwards.  Greeeat!

Lily jumps for joy.

She tries the moving balance beam, but doesn't like it very much sooo....

...moves on to the "motorcycles" (her name for them) and rides one like a demon.

Mommy and the girls climb up the hill.  Er, mound.  Bump, maybe?

EVERYWHERE.  It is fun (and somewhat tiring) to watch!
