July 4, 2012 - Lily's backpack is all packed and we are ready to leave for the airport to catch our flight to Winnipeg with Baba & Grampa Hunter. We are going to stay with Grandma Berta and visit all the friends and family we can!!
Amelia has a hard time settling down on the plane (she is hot and tired) but Lily has no problem falling asleep (thank goodness!!)
Amelia is much happier early in the flight when she is sitting up.
Lily is a big girl and sits in her own seat and watches tv and eats snacks and talks to Eeyore.
Amelia goes for a visit in the row behind with Grampa & Baba.
Lily catches some zzzzzz's.
Amelia visits Baba across the aisle in the empty seats. She needs her space :)
July 5, 2012 - Our first morning in Winnipeg we go to the park. It is hotttt!
We are thankful there is a bit of a breeze.
Lily is very lucky that Jackie (mom's neighbour) invites us over to play on the swingset that her boys used to use when they were little.
Grandma Berta helps Amelia with her bottle.
We go to Mommy's friend Bev's on July 6th and have a party in her backyard to celebrate Grandma Berta's birthday. Grandma helps Amelia with her supper.
Grandma Berta is excited to see the plate Lily coloured and gave to her for her birthday.
"Happy Birthday, Grandma!"
Lily dives into the icing on the cupcakes.
And stirs her lemonade. A perfect summer evening drink.
Amelia shows Grandma her tummy.
And she shows Auntie Bev how she can grab everything in sight...
...and walk! With assistance, of course.
Amelia finds a beachball!
And Lily finds a fishy water fountain.
A ball AND an inflatable duck? Cool.
Lily goes berry picking in Bev's backyard.
Mommy's Auntie Yvonne comes with Auntie Janet and Uncle Len to Grandma's house. Auntie Yvonne helps Lily with her Dora puzzles.
Amelia can't resist getting in on the action.
"Oh my goodness Great Uncle Len! What are we to do???"
Lily decides Great Uncle Len looks tired and puts him down for a nap with the snowflake blanket and yellow elephant.
Amelia has a little rest on Great Auntie Yvonne's knee...
...and on Great Auntie Janet's lap...
...and on Great Uncle Len's knee too! The girl really makes her rounds.
Everyone together :)
Back at the park during our morning walk.
Amelia needs some sunglasses!
Lily admires her "tirara" as she calls it.
Grandma Berta helps Amelia with her cereal.
It is hard to put food in a moving target sometimes, but Grandma Berta perseveres, and is successful!
Mommy's longtime friend Cathy comes for a visit. She has flown all the way from Belgium with her two kids to see her mom and dad in Winnipeg. We're lucky we're all in town at the same time!
We manage to get the girls to sit still for 2 seconds so we can snap this shot.
Lily has made a new friend!!
"Shhhhh everybody, baby dolly is sleeping!"
Grandma Berta plays "hide the girls under the blanket" with the two little munchkins.
Where did they go?
There they are!!! Lily and Amelia think this is the greatest game ever.
Lily tries to get everyone who comes over to play the Row Row Row Your Boat game with her. She is happy that Lane has agreed to play. He is smiling in this picture because he doesn't yet know about the part where she comes crashing down into his lap.
Uncle Brian (Lane's dad) takes Amelia for a "spin" around the house.
Lane soon realizes that throwing Lily in the air is actually much easier than letting her jump in his lap.
Not sure what this look is but we think she might be plotting to overtake the world.
Donna and Terry come for a visit and Lily immediately puts on the ladybug dress Donna brought for her. It has quickly become one of her favourites in her extensive dress collection.
Charming, Amelia, charming :)
Another soon-to-be victim of Lily's rowing the boat game!Grandma Berta plays peek-a-boo with Amelia using her pajama top.
Lily unwraps and enjoys her ladybug chocolate.
And Amelia is very pleased with her snack consisting of crackers and yogurt.
Lily fills up her little swimming pool with the hose.
And proceeds to put every single inflatable toy in it.
That doesn't leave a lot of room for Lily...
...so she takes a few things out so she can sit in it. Aaaah, that's better!"
Amelia crawls over to check it out...
Max comes over for a visit with the girls.
Lily is very excited to try out everything in Max's "magic bag" (her purse) and especially likes the lip pencil.
After an afternoon in the sun, Lily curls up like a turtle in her bed.
Amelia spends the evening "exploring".
And hamming it up for the camera.
Auntie Bev comes for a visit the next day and Lily convinces her to help with her Dora puzzles.
Bubbles!
Mommy's friend Sandra comes to say hi.
Back in the pool! Riding the duck this time.
Sandra reads Lily a story before bed.
Lily snuggles with her sister the next morning.
Amelia has had to learn to be a very accommodating little girl.
Amelia does a little bit more "exploring" this morning.
Lily likes to feed the ducks in the pond at the park. She also likes to pick the yellow "flowers". Mommy convinces her to leave them at the park for other people to enjoy.
The girls love all the toys Grandma Berta has leftover from when she used to run a daycare.
Grandma Berta's and Mommy's friend Linda (Lane & Blake's mom) comes for a visit and a snuggle.
Our last night in Winnipeg Mommy's friend Sarah (and her partner Jill and twins Ashley and Andrew) also come for a visit....
...and so do Mommy's friend Fran...
...and Mommy's friend Colleen. Colleen and Lily compare the size of their feet. Lily says she wishes her feet were bigger. Don't worry, Lily, Mommy wears size 10 and Daddy wears size 11 - you are sure to have big feet someday!
Lily and Colleen play hopscotch.
There's Jill! (with Andrew) and Sarah (with Ashley and Amelia).
Colleen scoops up Amelia to say goodbye.
Lily and Amelia watch a little tv together...
We think this is Amelia's sign of approval :)
The girls take a moment for a sisterly hug.
Grandma Berta and Lily enjoy their lunch together.
Jackie comes for one last visit with us. We are sad to say goodbye.
Lily says goodbye to the giant monkeybars shaped like an elephant.
And to the duck family at the park.
And Amelia says goodbye to her 700th Cheerio of the trip!
