Happy Easter!!

We call this one "Lily in Flight". After she *found* all her little foil covered eggs which Grampa had strategically placed at her eye-level throughout the condo, she put them one by one in a bowl in the living room. Then she had a brilliant idea! She ran them all into the kitchen so she could line them up in a neat little row....(see below)

Lily also found an Easter egg decorating kit!! We will save this one for some crafty and messy fun next year.

Our little Virgo lines up her eggs on the lip of the lower kitchen cabinets. A perfect place to access them if you are a tiny person, but a bit problematic for anyone wanting to open the cabinet door.

Lucky for us, she never did figure out that she could unwrap them and eat them. We will keep that secret for as long as we can :)

Spring Arrives! And so do Nana & Grampa Couper...

Spending the day at the park on the Easter long weekend. Saturday was the first sandal-wearing day. Freedom for our toes!

Mommy and Lily play with her ladybug soccer ball.

We try to distract her with other activities, but, ultimately, we end up at the park so Lily can play on the swings. We're not sure how she saw the swings from 200 yards away, but apparently she has very good eyesight.

Lily and mommy share a laugh.

Lily gets ready in the morning to go to daycare. She is very anxious to see her friends!

Nana and Great Grampa Archie found a giant turtle in Toronto and Nana brought it for Lily. Mr. Turtle quickly becomes one of her best friends.

She rolls around beside him (you know, kinda like a puppy does when it gets a new toy!)...

...She climbs on top of him...

...She drags him aroung....

...Puts him on her head...

...Drags him around some more...

...Lays down beside him...

...And, finally, sits on top of him so she can watch the quarter finals hockey game. Isn't that what best friends are for??

"I see you, daddy."

Nana tries to dress Lily-on-the-go. It is sometimes like trying to nail jello to a wall.

Lily plays horsey with Grampa Jim.

"Whee!""

Even though Mr. Turtle has arrived in the family, Eeyore is still her favourite. She decides to carry him around in her t-shirt. So she could have her hands-free? So she could keep him warm? The sock on his head would imply the latter. Or perhaps, it is just a fashion statement.

It is definitely easier to run when you have both hands, free, though!

Lily's First Haircut

Taking Lily for her first haircut at a kids' salon on Granville Island was a 3 person job. 1 person (mommy) to hold Lily on her lap and try and occupy her; 1 person to cut her hair; and 1 person (daddy) to take pictures and to also entertain Lily with assorted songs, and stuffed animals.
Getting the back done was bad enough, but getting the front cut was the least enjoyable part of the experience. For everyone!

Daddy walks his pretty little girl from the car into the building. We are all very tired and need a nap, but thrilled with the end result.

The Many Faces of Lily

What can I say? This series of pictures kind of speaks for itself. Lily has a million different faces. And she can display them in rapid succession.....

...'nuff said.

Lily Makes Her Own Fun

Lily has a thing for tongues. Her own. Other people's. It's all so fascinating.
Lily had her first playdate at Chapter's kid's section with Ariella (from daycare). Basically they chased each other around the store with empty strollers and stopped every once in awhile for a snack. The mommies were more tired than the kids when it was all over.

Lily likes to play hide-and-seek with the curtain and herself sometimes. We are glad she is able to use her imagination and occupy herself like this.

"It's a pretty sunny day today. Think I need my shades".

"They not only block the sun, but they really enhance this cool vibe I'm giving off".

Sleeping Beauty

Daddy's idea of fun :) Do not fear.....he's not actually that mean. This harmless stunt was for photographic purposes only. No pots were banged or babies scared in the taking of this picture.
Lily is a tummy sleeper just like mommy.

She is also NOT a morning person. Also, just like mommy.

Doing Things By Herself

Lily is enjoying figuring out how to eat with a spoon by herself. She has also figured out other things she can do with the spoon...
She still requires somebody to hold the jar, however. Otherwise bad things happen. We have learned this the hard way.

What Lily gets for dinner often depends on how much energy mommy has to give her a bath afterwards. Obviously mommy was feeling very energetic this evening.

Either that, or daddy was in charge of dinner menu options :)

Lily's version of brushing her teeth involves putting the brush in her mouth and sucking all the toothpaste off. We are currently working on improving her technique.

Lily likes to clomp around the house in mommy's shoes. Given her height so far, we are pretty sure that some day she will have size 10's, or 11's (gasp!) of her own...

Lily does a little fashion show wearing mommy's scarf.

"Don't you just love the way it drapes?"

Lily typically puts her boot on Saturday morning and tries to make a break for it out the front door, with her best buddy Eyore. Thank goodness for chain locks. Pretty soon we're going to have to move that chain lock even higher...

Our crazy little bug likes to wear her Easter bunny ears around her neck like a stethoscope.

She also likes to wear daddy's exercise band draped across her chest like a pageant banner.

In fact, she likes to pile on as many clothing items as she can. She is not familar with the saying "less is more".

Lily's interpretation of "gangsta chic"

Somehow...it works!
