First Trip as a Family of Four - To Kelowna, we Go!

Mommy & Lily put on their backpacks and wait for Daddy to bring the truck up from the parking lot under the building so Lily doesn't get sick from all the twists and turns in the parking garage. Unfortunately that car sickness she inherited from Mommy shows no signs of going away anytime soon.
Lily's had her Gravol, the kids are buckled in and have their toys, and we're ready to go!
Daddy's had his coffee and is ready for the 6 hour trip. Or 7 or 8, depending on how many pit stops we need to make.
Pit stop #2 to feed Meelie in the front seat.
Finally we arrive in Kelowna, and Lily wastes no time pulling out all the new toys she is going to play with at Nana & Grampa Jim's house...
...like the giant teddy bears from upstairs in Auntie Jilly's old bedroom...
...she drags them by the legs down the stairs and through the living room...
...she has some difficulty because they are rather large and heavy, but she perseveres...
...and finally sets them up on the loveseat so they will be more comfortable.
The next morning the girls wake up to snuggles from Nana.
Lily's love of playing with cups and water in the sink is apparently transferable. It's just as much fun in Kelowna as it is in the sink at home.
On Sunday morning we wake up to a glorious snowfall and Grampa Jim & Lily go out to explore.
The snow is perfect for making snowballs. And snowmen! Grampa Jim gets started as Lily watches.
First she touches the giant snowball with her hands...
...then she decides that kicking it means her hands can stay warm and dry.
Mommy, Nana & Amelia watch from the living room window.
After coming inside to get various vegetables, Grampa helps Lily put the carrot nose on the snowman.
She is very impressed at how tall Mr. Snowman is.
Soon Mr. Snowman has a face and some arms so Lily considers other uses for the remaining vegetables...
She thinks that maybe some buttons would be a nice addition...
...and, finally, Grampa helps Lily put a hat on Mr. Snowman. Well, a toque to be more exact.
The final masterpiece is very impressive!
After a hard morning of making a snowman, Lily sits down for a game of croquignole with Nana.
.She considers her potential moves very carefully...
...and then goes to make her shot. She's a natural!
Lily finds a brand new dish brush and asks Daddy to kneel down so she can brush his hair. Daddy obliges.
Then she finds Mommy and makes the same plea...
"Thank you Lily, you are doing a great job!"
Family dinner! Lily tells Grampa at one point "No talking with food in your mouth. It's rude!" While this may be true, she has not quite mastered the skill of following her own advice.
Back to croquignole!
Lily shows us where we are supposed to try and get the chips...
This is her smug face. She is very pleased with herself at having got the chip into the centre hole. She is not concerned about the fact that she simply placed it in there rather than having flicked it in :) From her perspective she has accomplished the goal.
Lily hones her game-playing skills even further.
Apparently we have not fed Amelia enough today because she is looking for other sources of food...

Nana & Grampa entertain Amelia while the family watches hockey. She hasn't yet developed an interest in the sport and doesn't understand the importance of facing the tv, but she will learn.
Lily & Grampa end the day with a book. A perfect end to a great trip! Time to go home tomorrow...

Lily & her Baby

Lily invites Amelia to join her in her bed...
She thinks it's pretty awesome to have a real live baby in her bed along with her baby dolly and all her other "friends"!
Lily likes to hold her baby. She thinks it's very funny when Amelia reaches out and grabs her face, and giggles when she gets a fistful of hair. Unless it's a really big fistful and Amelia is pulling very hard....then Lily says "Baby let go of my hair please!"
Lily likes to hold Amelia's hands and brings her toys to play with when she is sad. She is a good big sister :)

Mommy & the Girls

Saturday morning - Lily has her pink dress on and Amelia is fed and raring to go...
...Lily, however, is quite happy to stay snuggled on the couch so we hang out there for awhile.
Weekday morning - the sun hasn't come up yet and the girls sit with Mommy while she wakes up with her hot chocolate.

Weekday evening - Lily puts on her new red polka dot dress as soon as she gets home from school and spends some time with Mommy and little sister. Lily has inherited her distaste for wearing pants from her Daddy who also sheds his as soon as he walks in the door and swaps them for shorts.
One Sunday morning we make a bed in the living room and all three of us girls play on the floor.
Mommy gives Lily a hug before Daddy takes her to school. She is fond of saying "Bye bye Sweetie Mommy" and "Bye bye Sweetie Baby."
The bug gives her little sister a goodbye hug, too.

Lily *Sleeps* in a Big Bed...

Lily likes to pretend to sleep in Mommy & Daddy's bed...
In order to do this she has to boot Daddy out of bed so there is room for her. She tells him that with him in the bed there is "no space for Lily."
Clearly she thinks this is hilarious. Daddy disagrees.
