Thanksgiving Trip to Calgary

Mommy and Lily flew to Calgary on the Thanksgiving long weekend to stay with Great Auntie Nel and Great Uncle John. Baba & Grampa Hunter and Great Baba & Great Gido all came to stay too. We had a great time! Lily was pretty excited to see everybody when we got there on Friday afternoon, and was also pretty thrilled with the menu...she ate very well all weekend :)

After dinner, Lily wondered - "Oooh...is there more food coming?"

"Oh I see..it's a birthday cake just for me!!"

"Chocolate! Yummmmmm!"

"Num num num num."

"Ahhh...a nightcap. Thank you Grampa!"

"I take that back. Why do you adults like that stuff?"

Lily liked to entertain everyone in the morning at the breakfast table. Happy dances were common.

Lily shakes her booty.

"Hi Great Gido! I really like morning hugs. I hope you do too."

Great Baba helps Lily with her walking. They did lots and lots of laps of the house!

Lily and Great Uncle John have a little conversation. We're not sure what it's about, but they seem to know.

"Great Gido, I like sitting with you on the couch."

Lily spent a fair bit of time building *stuff*. And taking it apart. And then building more stuff.

Lily got her first baby doll for her birthday. The first thing she did was poke the baby's eyes and then her nose. But she eventually figured out where the soother goes, and patted the doll's head. We were glad to see her being nice to baby :)

"Look what I can do, Great Gido! Thank you for bringing me to the park. The swings are one of my favourite things to play on."

"Grampa Hunter, Simon says touch your nose!"

"Look Great Baba! I can walk with books! In both hands!"

"Ahhh. Baba's lap is a nice place to be in the morning."

"And Grampa Hunter's is a nice place to be in the afternoon."

Lily poses with mommy, Great Baba and Great Gido.

We're trying to take a family shot with Great Uncle John and Great Auntie Nel. Lily is a little obsessed with her feet at the moment.

Lily shows Great Gido how gently she can be with flowers.

Time to go home. Mommy and Lily are a little bit sad to say goodbye after our wonderful visit.

Early October....Not too Eventful

"Hi!"

Lily likes to hang one foot out of her crib when she sleeps. Which is fine, except when she gets it stuck and has to wake up mommy and daddy to get unstuck :)

Wouldn't you just love to know what scheme she's dreaming up now??

Lily at Daycare

Lily loves the indoor sandbox...mommy likes it better than the outside one, 'cause Lily tends to eat the sand in the outdoor one.

She also really enjoys painting!!!

Our budding little artist likes to use two paint brushes at once. How avante-garde.

Special Visitors Arrive & Lily Takes her First Steps! (Week 54)

Lily shows Great Grampa Couper what she can do...

...and she shows Great Auntie Mar her balancing act.

"Look Great Grampa! I can make music."

"Hey, Great Auntie Mar, do you want to play with me?"

"If you want to play with my toy, it helps if you stick your tongue out like this."

Lily gets her first taste of Chinese food.

Apparently she likes it!!

One, two, three....Lily practices her counting with kleenexes.

"Do you want one?"

When all the kleenexes are gone, she decides to taste the box. Our child is brilliant!

The Couper clan goes to daycare to pick up Lily.

She is very pleased that so many friendly faces have come to greet her at the end of her "workday".

When we get home, Lily shows everybody her toys...Great Auntie Mar, Grampa Jim, Nana, Matt, Auntie Jill and Great Grampa Couper are very impressed.

Lily opens some gifts from Great Auntie Mar, including a little lunch bag with her name on it.

After standing at the coffee table for awhile entertaining her guests, Lily decides now would be a good time to take her first steps on her own, since she has such a large audience :) Everybody, including mommy, was very surprised, and totally thrilled!

She is VERY proud of herself!!

Lily responds well to the cheers, and just to make sure everybody realizes it was no accident, she takes a few more steps!

Still Playin' with Birthday Balloons (Week 53)

The week following Lily's birthday, she's still trying to figure out the balloons...

...she tries to undo them from the bag that's weighing them down...

...but decides it's not going to happen, and makes peace with it. In fact, she makes friends with the bag.

She does, however, get pretty tangled up in the process.

Eventually some of the balloons lose their helium...

...but Lily likes them when they're softer, cause then she can give them hugs.
